What is laser scar removal?

The skin is loaded with collagen and elastin which give the skin its elasticity and ability to return to its original position. As we age the supply of collagen and elastins available in our skin begins to diminish, and their replenishment begins to take longer.

Skin renewal therapy is one way to delay the effects of aging. Skin renewal treatments also help lessen the appearance of stretch marks from weight fluctuation and pregnancy stretch marks by encouraging collagen and elastin production.

What is laser scar removal?

A laser emits amplified light, which is focused on the problem area. Because a laser can be focused sharply it can be used without any impact on surrounding tissue. Laser therapy often requires repeated treatments.

What causes scars?

Injuries
In most instances where the skin is broken, scarring may occur.  As skin renews itself at the site of the injury the scar will become evident.  The scar may be slight or decidedly pronounced, this is known as a keloid scar. Keloid scars take place when the skin has aggressively committed to the healing process and excessive amounts of new skin are created. Keloid scars can sometimes hamper movement and need to be reduced.

Weight changes and Pregnancy
The elasticity of our skin is very similar to a normal elastic, and just like the repeated stretching and relaxing of the elastic will cause tiny tears and breaks to appear in the elastic, so to will rapid weight loss or weight gain. The skin does not have time to create the keratin and elastin to keep it smooth as it expands causing what is very similar to a tear in the skin, leaving a scar. These scars are referred to as stretch marks.

The same thing happens during pregnancy. Your body needs to accommodate a rapidly growing baby and often the skin just doesn’t keep up.

Your skin is naturally elastic and it maintains that elasticity, as you grow, however when you are pregnant the speed at which your stomach grows, is to fast for your skin to produce sufficient elastin and keratin. As a result, your skin stretches leaving you with the legacy of pregnancy stretch marks.

There are many remedies which have been handed down from generation to generation but few if any are effective in combating pregnancy stretch marks.  Laser treatment, on the other hand, is an effective means of dealing with all kinds of scars.

Removing scars with laser

Laser scar removal treatment can turn your life around with just a few simple treatments. Stretch marks and other scars can be removed or lightened to near invisibility.

Some scars have a reddish appearance and appear thickened. Laser scar removal will act on the blood vessels reducing the redness and discourage the growth of scar tissue.

With stretch marks of any kind, including pregnancy stretch marks they initially appear reddish and only after a number of years do they lighten. Laser treatment will lighten the red scars and if you have the very light scars a sequence of treatments should reduce their visibility to almost nil.
